Megastar Amitabh Bachchan turned Priyanka Chopra’s sparring partner when the actress appeared on the TV show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 8’ to promote her film Mary Kom.

Big B, who’s always been vocal about women empowerment, was glad to host Priyanka Chopra on the hot seat. The actress was part of the special program called ‘Housalebaaz’ (The Valiant) featuring the RED BRIGADE, a group of trained women to take on their oppressors.

Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog, “Usha Vishwakarma from Lucknow, UP fought back abuse and formed a RED BRIGADE of young girls, trained them in the art of self defence and wanted to form an Academy by the earnings at KBC to teach and arm those oppressed and suppressed women in the country to give it back to the invader ..

“And Priyanka does just that in her film ‘Mary Kom’ the bio made on the life of this fearless athlete from the North East, Manipur, who won the World Championship Women’s Boxing event 5 times and won a medal for the country at the last Olympics ..”

Priyanka Chopra was accompanied by the Mary Kom director Omung Kumar on ‘KBC 8’. The telecast date of this episode hasn’t been revealed yet, but it should air around the release of Mary Kom which is September 5.

‘KBC 8’ will go on air on August 17. The first episode was shot live in Surat and featured comedian Kapil Sharma as the guest of Amitabh Bachchan.

Mumbai, Aug : Daawat-e-Ishq stars Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur were at their vivacious best while shooting with megastar Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of the forthcoming season of reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).

“On the sets of KBC here in Mumbai now and inviting presentations from the effervescent and hugely talented Parineeti…the handsome and the cool Aditya Roy Kapoor, who join me to promote their upcoming film Daawat-e-Ishq,” the 71-year-old posted on his blog late Monday night. ”May it be another success for them and may we continue to see their glory and fame endlessly,” he added.

Big B also posted some images from the shoot, and it’s easy to decipher that the trio had great fun. Parineeti is seen dancing and laughing away with the thespian, while Aashiqui 2 star Aditya can be seen shaking a leg with the actors as well. Amitabh tweeted: “The song was so tempting to dance to from their film just could not resist.” The new season of KBC will go on air live on August 17, but it is not clear when the episode featuring Parineeti and Aditya will be telecast.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been an inspiration for many but this time, the megastar felt “really inspired” by a true story of a “fiery young lady” who came to shoot with actress Priyanka Chopra for the forthcoming season of reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC).


The 71-year-old shot a "special programme" called ‘Housalebaaz’ with the two ladies. He took to his blog to make a special mention of the “determination and strength” of Usha Vishwakarma from Lucknow who fought back abuse and wretched treatment from the opposite sex.

“Inspired really by the true story of the fiery young lady that came on with Priyanka Chopra to KBC in our special programme called ‘Housalebaaz’ ...one with determination and strength, displayed in circumstances that have troubled and abused the young female gender in society … ,” he posted on his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com.

“Usha Vishwakarma from Lucknow, UP fought back abuse and formed a RED BRIGADE of young girls, trained them in the art of self defence and wanted to form an Academy by the earnings at KBC to teach and arm those oppressed and suppressed women in the country to give it back to the invader...,” he further added.

BigB also applauded Priyanka`s film ‘Mary Kom’, a biopic on the five-time World Champion boxer.

Co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, "Mary Kom" shows M.C. Mary Kom`s journey from an athlete to a boxer, opposition faced by her father to take up the sport as a profession, training with men, her fearless nature, marriage and so-called end of her boxing career.

Directed by Omung Kumar, it is slated for a Sep 5 release.
